Dâmbovița Community Foundation

Dâmbovița Community Foundation originates in a bold letter sent by a group of locals to the Association for Community Relations in March 2014. Three people took it upon themselves to establish a community foundation, later joined by others who believed in their goal. Their efforts led to a first success in November 2015, when they registered the Dâmbovița Community Foundation as a legal entity.
The mission of Dâmbovița Community Foundation is to bring the locals together, for a united and involved community, able to identify their own needs and solve them.
Willing to continue the change at community level, the Dâmbovița Community Foundation is constantly working through its people, through partners, benefactors, individual donors and other entities to reach the maximum potential of the Dâmbovița community.
By involving resources of all kinds: human volunteering, financial donations or sponsorships, time invested in events and activities, through ideas and networking, the Dâmbovița community will be able to use the opportunities it holds, in order to transform itself into an active and involved community, determined to change the lives of its inhabitants.
Since they were just an initiative group, the Foundation team has carried out several fundraising projects that have helped set up the Performance Scholarship Fund, the Technicum Scholarship Fund and the “Give Life a Chance” Health Fund.
The constant mobilization of the community led to the organization, in 2015, of two humanitarian galas, a series of cultural events, but also the launch of the YouthBank Târgoviște program.
In 2017, the Foundation organized its first Swimathon, where six local causes were supported. The edition managed to mobilize the community and raise more than 11,000 lei. “The Dâmbovița Community Foundation wants to build more and more bridges between those who can change this area for the better. Adriana Ion, who says her secret is not being discouraged by the “this won’t work” mentality, is determined to take the event further, after this first edition which seemed unattainable in the Târgoviște landscape”, Veronica Soare reported from the event.
The Foundation kept its promise, and in 2018 it organized a second edition of Swimathon, with 36 swimmers from the community. Gradually, the locals rediscover the power of doing good together, and with a new leadership and vision, the Dâmboviţa Community Foundation will succeed in gathering enough allies and heroes to produce a positive long-term change.
